What do you do when nothing goes according to plan? Far from it, actually, as opposite as it can get from anything you ever foresaw. Sometimes life can be like that, I guess. It can keep you lost in its strange alleys, the more you want to get to the truth, the more it keeps you meandering about in your own chaos.
I haven’t really had the motivation to cook anything for a while now. With every day getting worse in my own head, the only thing that has excited me of late was the intent to make Hummus and Pita Bread from scratch. Though my mom immediately got me chickpeas on demand, I realized I am lacking more than one ingredient for this to come through the way I was envisioning. With my frustration getting the better of me, and my “hanger” rising by the minute, I decided it was safe for me and my family if I switched to something that can be cooked in a jiffy.
The hungrier you are, the more carbs you want to eat, so from the exotic hummus, my monkey mind wandered to the loaded Chhole Chawal. It is a tried and tested recipe, that promised the tanginess of chole and the sweet satisfaction of eating rice, all together.
No matter how strange life was getting, at least I could depend on Chhole chawal to make me happy, and be consistent on how it is going to turn out. That’s why I cook. Because no matter what I have control over in life, I have control over what I make with my own hands and put on my plate. 🙂
Same is the case with Rajma chawal….another blockbuster
True Roohul. But I prefer Chole! 😀
