Tamasha – The story of Ved and Tara.

Tamasha

A story of blurred lines between reality and dreams, where you realize there are so many truths and it is up to Ved to choose his own truth, but our dumbhead hero desperately needs a knock in his brain to get this. Yes, I speak of the movie Tamasha.

The first time I saw this movie, it almost scared me. With its raw dialogues, its vulnerable conversations and its touchy subject of self-discovery. It’s like one of those moments when someone blurts out the truth you almost don’t want to hear. But when it does hit you, it’s kind of freeing. It frees you, from yourself. That’s what this movie means to me.

I watched it again today, to not just fall in love with Ved and Tara and Rahman’s brilliance, but also because I felt it was time to go back and hear that truth again. I noticed so many beautiful things that I didn’t earlier.

For me, this is not a story of a corporate boy hero turning to free-spirited artist man. No, that’s not what this beautiful piece of work is about! This is the story of Ved and Tara, and you and me and every complex human being stuck in roles we aren’t supposed to be playing, believing we are stuck for good. Just like Ved, I keep going back to my story retracing my steps to figure out how it ends.

Now go back to your story and ask yourself, “How does it end?”
